Abstract

Surgical Therapy of Colon Diverticulitis – German Experiences From up-to-date literature, the German experiences in the treatment of diverticular disease and the modern principles of surgery in diverticulitis are shown and discussed. The concept in diagnosis and therapy has changed in the last 5 to 10 years, and today the one-stage resection with primary anastomosis after the second attack should be the standard even in cases of diffuse peritonitis. The own results and experiences in the treatment of 393 patients between 1991 and 1999 are critically analysed.
