Chitinophaga parva sp. nov., a new member of the family Chitinophagaceae, isolated from soil in a chemical factory

Abstract: A Gram-stain-negative bacterium, designated LY-1, was isolated from the soil sample collected from a chemical factory in Fuyang city, Anhui province, China. Cells of strain LY-1 were strictly aerobic, non-motile and rod-shaped. Strain LY-1 grew optimally at pH 7.0 and at 30-35 °C. The taxonomic position was investigated using a polyphasic approach. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain LY-1 was a member of the genus Chitinophaga and showed the highest sequence similarity t… Show more

“…tropicus LCS9 T , iso-C 15 : 1 G and anteiso-C 15 : 1 A were the major fatty acids in LCS9 T , but not detected in strain LB-8 T (). The only respiratory quinone of strain LB-8 T was menaquinone-7 (MK-7), which is also reported for the genera Flavisolibacter , Paracnuella , Cnuella and other members of the family Chitinophagaceae [1, 4–8, 29–31]. The major polar lipids of strain LB-8 T were phosphatidylethanolamine, four unidentified aminolipids and two unidentified lipids (Fig.…”

“…However, strain LB-8 T could be differentiated from its near relatives by producing large amount of anteiso-C 15 : 0 and failing to produce iso-C 15 : 1 G. Compared to its closest relative F. tropicus LCS9 T , iso-C 15 : 1 G and anteiso-C 15 : 1 A were the major fatty acids in LCS9 T , but not detected in strain LB-8 T (Table 2). The only respiratory quinone of strain LB-8 T was menaquinone-7 (MK-7), which is also reported for the genera Flavisolibacter, Paracnuella, Cnuella and other members of the family Chitinophagaceae [1,[4][5][6][7][8][29][30][31].…”

“…On the other hand, Haliangum and Gemmatimonas have been proposed as beneficial soil bacteria that tend to be increased in healthy soils ( Gong et al, 2021 ; Shang and Liu, 2021 ). Finally, multiple strains from Chitinophagaceae have been isolated and reported as PGPR ( Madhaiyan et al, 2015 ; Dahal et al, 2017 ; Ke et al, 2018 ; Lee and Whang, 2020 ). Therefore, these bacterial genera found in all the five rhizospheres of the desert and Antarctic plant species might have synergistic functionalities that help plant with environmental adversities.…”
