“…The study also aims to investigate the specific genotypes associated with the LGV strains in this population in China. LGV outbreaks or increasing prevalence of LGV has appeared during the last decade in many countries in North America, Europe and the Pacific in the form of proctocolitis among MSM 13–16. However, no cases with LGV-related proctocolitis or genotypes associated with LGV have been reported from clinic practice or epidemiological studies2–5 since a case was reported by us in 2007 17.…”

“…Using the clinics' EMRs, baseline STI testing rates were determined for the previous year (1 October 2015 to 30 September 2016), and then the number of tests performed on a biweekly basis were tracked prospectively following implementation of the intervention. In addition, testing rates were tracked for the subgroup of women aged 16–29 years, as this population has been shown to be at increased risk for STIs 13 16. Previous STI testing was rare at the participating clinics and the physicians did not generally consider STIs on their differential diagnosis for GU complaints.…”

“…Reports of CT incidence across the Niagara Region in Canada are similar to the national average (250/100 000) 13–15. The highest rates are among young women 16. Trichomoniasis is not a reportable infection in Canada, nor with Ontario provincial or Niagara municipal health agencies, thus the local incidence is unknown.…”

“…L-genotypes (L1, L2, and L3) are responsible for lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV), whose clinical presentation is associated with inguinal an femoral lymphadenopathies, proctitis, proctocolitis and ulcers, among others ( Ceovic and Jerkovic Gulin, 2015 ; Stoner and Cohen, 2015 ). Traditionally, LGV was an endemic in tropical areas, but LGV is already currently endemic in several European countries and cases have also been reported in Australia and North America ( Hal et al, 2007 ; Totten et al, 2015 ; Donachie et al, 2018 ), mainly associated to men who have sex with men (MSM). In countries with well-established surveillance programs, the incidence is increasing ( Marangoni et al, 2021 ); however, the true extent of the LGV epidemic is not well known.…”
