Abstract:Two mixed ligand copper(ii) complexes were synthesised and structurally characterised, showing promising results towards DNA binding and fragmentation studies.
“…59 The sharp peak observed at −0.315 V is because of copper deposition at the surface of the working electrode. 60 Also, there was an irreversible Cu II /Cu I redox wave observed at a potential of 0.020 V, and another redox process at a negative potential of −0.256 V can be assigned as a successive one-electron metal-based Cu I /Cu 0 reduction process. Other one irreversible peak at −1.136 V and two quasi reversible redox events at −1.392 V and −1.724 V could be assigned to ligand ( L )-based reductions (Table 3).…”
In recent years the global perspective of small molecule activation has shifted the focus towards biomimetic oxidations. Phenoxazinone synthase and catechol oxidase; two vital metalloenzymes has drawn the attention of...

“…60 The distance between the copper and nitrogen centers are ∼1.9–2.1 Å. Pentacoordinated copper complexes have shown similar bond lengths to the metal center with the Cu–N bonds varying within 1.96 Å to 2.37 Å. 34,48,61–63 Polyhedral views and the packing along the b -axis are given in Fig. S11–S13 †…”

“…23 In this regard, a large number of copper complexes have been reported with various coordinating ligands and structures. 24–34 In most cases, the selectivity can be improved, and the coordinated ligands have been tuned with a common intercalator and/or fluorophore. A slight modification in the geometry could alter the affinity to a considerable extent, and specificity can be obtained in DNA binding modes.…”
DNA being the necessary element in cell regeneration, an approach to combat cancer cells is the controlled cellular apoptosis by DNA binding/cleaving. The widely prescribed metallodrug cis-platin has shown interactions...
“…Pentacoordinated systems with DPA-derived ligands have shown similar bond lengths to the metal center with Cu–N bonds varying from 1.96 Å to 2.37 Å and Cu–Cl bonds with ∼2.2–2.3 Å. 51–53 Even for a hexacoordinated system with ClO 4 − occupying the sixth position, the bond distances are comparable. 54…”
Activation of molecular oxygen remains a pertinent challenge to the scientific community due to their poor selectivity especially towards organic substrates. In biological systems, phenoxazinone synthase and catechol oxidase are...
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
