Abstract:Numerical aberrations (whole chromosomal aneuploidy) represent a significant proportion of chromosomal changes found in humans. These aberrations can occur as a consequence of chromosome segregation defects during cell division. Segregation errors that arise during reductive cell division, or meiosis, are upon fertilisation and subsequent embryo development constitutively present in all cells, resulting in whole organismal aneuploidy. Missegregation in mitosis leads to a mosaic distribution of aneuploidy in so… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
