Chronic Venous Insufficiency and the Therapeutic Effects of Daflon 500 mg

Abstract: Chronic venous insufficiency is linked to venous hypertension and forces of shear stress on the endothelium. Venous hypertension depends upon two forces: the weight of a column of blood from the right atrium transmitted through the valveless vena cava and iliac veins to the femoral vein, and pressure generated by contracting skeletal muscles of the leg transmitted through failed perforating veins. When valve failure occurs in superficial axial veins and perforating veins, the venous pressure in the veins and v… Show more

“…This is in keeping with the finding that superficial veins fail before deep veins during the progression of venous disease (317, 376, 390). Chronic venous reflux is associated with increases in interactions between WBCs and ECs (34) and the numbers of activated WBCs (436), which can lead to the activation of ECs and upregulation of proinflammatory genes that underlie the clinical manifestations of chronic venous diseases (34). …”

“…MPFF has been successfully used for treatment of venous leg ulcers caused by microcirculation damage induced by increased ambulatory venous pressure [146,147,149,150] and seems to have the highest clinical benefit among various pharmacological agents in patients with venous diseases [151]. In a meta-analysis of 5…”

“…Flavonoids are thought to affect leukocytes and the endothelium and thereby modify the degree of inflammation and reduce edema [87]. Diosmin has been shown to improve venous tone, microvascular permeability, lymphatic activity, and microcirculatory nutritive flow [88].…”
