Chylous Ascites in the Neonate: A Narrative Review

Abstract: Chylous ascites (CA), also called chyloperitoneum, is a rare form of ascites in the neonate. It results from the leakage of lymph into the peritoneal cavity. There are congenital and acquired forms of CA. CA may occur during fetal life, and the prognosis will depend on its volume, gestational age at the onset, and the association with other anomalies.
