Circadian clock, carcinogenesis, chronochemotherapy connections

Abstract: The circadian clock controls the expression of nearly 50% of protein coding genes in mice and most likely in humans as well. Therefore, disruption of the circadian clock is presumed to have serious pathological effects including cancer. However, epidemiological studies on individuals with circadian disruption because of night shift or rotating shift work have produced contradictory data not conducive to scientific consensus as to whether circadian disruption increases the incidence of breast, ovarian, prostate… Show more

“…Different studies have established a relation between alterations in circadian rhythm genes and cancer [32,34]. Specifically, one of the genes associated with different types of cancer is cry [35][36][37]. Thus, this study aims to investigate the role of cry in a Drosophila GB model.…”

“…Different studies have established a relation between alterations in circadian rhythm genes and cancer. Specifically, one of the genes associated with different types of cancer is cry (Shafi et al 2021;Yang et al 2021;Mampay et al 2021). So this study aims to investigate the role of cry in a Drosophila GB model.…”

“…Among TME processes, the circadian clock operates on immune escape and angiogenesis. The effect of the circadian clock on tumor progression is probably dependent on its effects on stem cells and the pro-tumor TME [ 81 , 82 ].…”
