Circular polarized dual-band antenna for WLAN/Wi-MAX application

Abstract: A novel square ring printed antenna has been suggested for dual‐band circular polarization (CP). The geometry contains a square patch and a square ring structure for dual‐band operation. Circular polarization is achieved using triangular cut at the boundary and right angle bend with inner perturbation. The suggested antenna is excited from the lower layer through electromagnetic (EM) coupling technique. The antenna shows good impedance bandwidths of 90 MHz (2.43‐2.52 GHz) and 800 MHz (5.7‐6.5 GHz, respectively… Show more

“…Later, the dimensions of the newly introduced slots are increased, wherein the desired multi-resonance characteristics are obtained. In fact, the introduction of a slot centering to the mean perimeter line splits the ring, and the modified geometry can have analyzed as a dual-ring structure [23]. The modified final antenna geometry with slots at boundary is presented in Figure 2(b), which concludes multi-resonance characteristics with enhanced impedance bandwidth and reflection coefficient at four different frequency bands 3.4 GHz, 4.5 GHz, 5.8 GHz and 7.5 GHz.…”

“…The principle of designing a CP antenna is the two required orthogonal resonant modes with 90‐phase difference and equal amplitude . Due to the benefits of light weight, relative plain structure, broad band impedance bandwidth, good radiation efficiency and eliminate of frequency interference, multiband monopole antennas have been engrossed many antenna designers’ attentions. Hitherto, variants of multiband monopole antenna capable of producing CP have also been recommended.…”
