Circularly polarized antenna for 2.3–2.7 GHz WiMax band

Abstract: A novel circularly polarized antenna fed by a coplanar waveguide is presented. Center conductor of the transmission line is protruded to form a semi‐circular shape and two ground ports of the transmission line are extensively connected to form a closed loop. By tuning width of the closed loop, we can make the return loss and axial ratio bandwidth to cover 2.3–2.7 GHz WiMAX band. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. “…The printed slot antennas (PSAs) are also popular as planar antenna for broadband CP, [11,12,13,14,15,16,17]. In this letter, the high performance of the proposed PMA is proven by comparing it with some PMAs and PSAs reported in the literatures.…”

“…Also, CP overcomes phase problems in a multipath fading channel environment. This includes deadspots, decreased throughput, and reduced overall performance [13]. Additionally, compared to other polarizations, CP is more resistant to signal degradation due to extreme weather conditions [14,15].…”

“…slots to realize defective ground [3], the stacked patch with cutting symmetrical angles [4]. Utilizing perturbations in the forms of feed lines [5]- [7], slot structures [8]- [10] and array configurations [11], [12] have also been proposed. Most of these designs are achieved by full-wave simulation and optimization based on engineering experience and intuition with little physical insight.…”
