Citizenship in Late Medieval Champagne: The Towns of Châlons, Reims, and Troyes, 1417–circa 1435

Abstract: This article uses the registers of the municipal deliberations of Châlons, Reims, and Troyes to analyze citizenship in Champagne in the years 1417–circa 1435. People in these towns practiced citizenship and conceived of citizenship in at least three levels: town citizenship, Champagne citizenship, and French citizenship.
