Citrus Limon L. Peel Powder Incorporated Polyvinyl Alcohol/Corn Starch Antioxidant Active Films

Abstract: Active food packaging films has gain more significance over conventional packaging. In this study, novel active composite films were prepared by incorporating lemon peel to a polyvinyl alcohol-starch matrix. The morphological, thermal and antioxidant activity evaluation of polyvinyl alcohol-starch-lemon peel composite films were discussed to determine whether the presence and content of lemon peel influenced the film's characteristics. The results indicated that tested properties of composite films depended on… Show more

“…(2021) achieved similar results in investigating pomegranate peel's effect on pectin‐based edible films’ antioxidant activity of chitosan‐modified dialdehyde guar gum films, respectively. The addition of lemon peel powder to polyvinyl alcohol–starch films also significantly increased the antioxidant activity of the film samples (Terzioglu & Sicak, 2021).…”

“…Filmlerin termal bozunması termogravimetrik diferansiyel termal analiz (TG/DTA) tekniği ile TA/SDT650 (TA Instruments, Inc., New Castle, ABD) cihazı kullanılarak belirlendi. Analizler filmlerin sırasıyla nitrojen atmosferi ve oksijen atmosferi altında 25 °C'den 600 °C'ye ve 600 °C'den 900 °C'ye çıkılması ile gerçekleştirilmiştir [20]. Isıtma hızı 20 °C/dk olarak çalışılmıştır.…”
