Clarifying the Link Between the Blood Lactate Concentration and Cardiovascular Risk

Abstract: The blood lactate value at rest (Lacrest) is linked to cardiovascular outcomes. It is unclear whether this association holds true in younger, healthy subjects, especially as the pathophysiological connection between Lacrest and cardiometabolic disease is not well understood. The aim of this study is clarifying the link between Lacrest and cardiovascular risk, and to study explanatory factors for the variance of Lacrest concerning metabolism and physical activity in a population of healthy patient-athletes. The… Show more

“…The association of IL-7 with lactylation is significant as, under normal circumstances, this cytokine opposes cellular senescence and lowers blood pressure [ 41 ], suggesting that its dysfunction may drive PTSD and CVD, validating the study of Seligovski et al [ 24 , 39 , 42 , 43 , 44 ]. In this regard, impaired IL-7 signaling with IL-7 receptors (IL-7R) on ECs, likely contributes to PTSD and CVD by promoting early vascular aging (EVA) and premature ECs senescence [ 5 , 34 , 43 , 44 , 45 , 46 , 47 , 48 , 49 ]. In contrast, upregulated HIF-1α exerts cardioprotective and neuroprotective effects and can alleviate many PTSD symptoms [ 50 , 51 , 52 ].…”
