Classical Enterotoxin Genes of Staphylococcus aureus Isolated from the Raw Milk of Cows and Goats in Yogyakarta Indonesia

Abstract: Milk is a highly nutritious food containing several essential nutrients. Consequently, it can be contaminated by pathogenic bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus. This study aimed to analyze the genes encoding nine classical enterotoxins of S. aureus isolated from cow and goat raw milk. A total of 75 S. aureus isolates were obtained from milk samples of dairy cows (46 isolates) and Peranakan Etawa (PE) goats (29 isolates) from different farms in Yogyakarta Indonesia. Based on the cultural and biochemical p… Show more

“…This SEB strain was isolated from humans in Yogyakarta, Central Java, Indonesia. S. aureus containing the gene encoding SEs A, B, C, G, H, and I have been isolated from the milk of dairy cows and goats [11,14]. Enterotoxins A, B, E, G, H, and I were Available at www.veterinaryworld.org/Vol.15/July-2022/22.pdf found in food products, cattle, and humans [15], in Central Java, Indonesia, indicating the potential for the spread of enterotoxins harmful to public health.…”

“…It was also reported as the second most common in human isolates. The seh and sec genes appear to be the primary genes of isolated S. aureus from milk in the dairy farm [15] [17] and mastitis bovine [18]. In the mastitis case, seh gene was reported can induce bMES apoptosis on bovine mammary epithelial cells [18] and has been reported a cases of food poisoning caused by milk containing seh gene.…”
