Abstract:We construct and analyze the communication cost of protocols (interactive and one-way) for classifying X = (X1, X2, . . . , Xn) ∈ [0, 1) n ⊂ R n , in a network with n ≥ 2 nodes, with Xi known only at node i. The classifier takes the form n i=1 hiXi ≷ a, with weights hi ∈ {−1, +1}. The interactive protocol (a zero-error protocol) exchanges a variable number of messages depending on the input X and its sum rate is directly proportional to its mean stopping time. An exact analysis, as well as an approximation of … Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
