Classification of bulk material from the gas flow in a device with coaxially arranged pipes

Abstract: The paper deals with the problem of classification of bulk material, based on silica gel, larger than 30 µm, from dusty gas flow. In order to solve this problem, the design of a classifier with coaxially arranged pipes is proposed. According to the conducted studies, it is more efficient to use a classifier with an inner conical pipe to solve the problems of separating the particles from the gas flows of various sizes, since a greater value is achieved for the centrifugal, inertial, gravitational and other for… Show more

“…Numerical simulations were performed by means of ANSYS Fluent software package, designed for solving problems of fluid mechanics, using the finite element method in the form of unstructured grid technology, which allows you to get an accurate solution for areas with large flow gradients. Transition SST, one of the latest modifications of Menter's SST models, was used as a turbulence model, in which two additional transport equations are introduced; one is for the intermittency of turbulence, and the second one is for the criterion of transition start in thickness units of momentum loss of the Reynolds numbers [14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21]. The number of cells when creating the grid was approximately 785,000.…”

“…The authors have designed a pneumatic vortex classifier with coaxial tubes [6][7]. Distinctive features of the device are high selectivity with low-pressure losses, simplicity of the design regarding lack of moving mechanisms, low capital, and operating costs.…”

“…Одним из решений является улучшение селективности классификаторов, что позволит получать фракции требуемой дисперсности с минимальным количеством в них гранулометрических фракций иных диапазонов, что достигается за счет создания упорядоченной вихревой структуры [8][9][10][11]. Также повышение селективности классификаторов будет способствовать ресурсо-и энергосбережению, как в конкретной технологической линии производства силикагеля, так и на текущем предприятии в целом.…”
