Abstract:We have designed possible structures of the isomers of midi-fullerenes, namely C40, C42, C44, C46, and C48; three the most natural mechanisms of their formation being used: fusion of carbon cupolas having the same symmetry; fusion of fullerenes having compatible symmetry and embedding carbon dimers into initial fullerenes. The energies of the fullerenes calculated through the use of molecular mechanics are presented together with their graphs. It is found that in the majority of cases the minimum-energy fuller… Show more
“…The C 24 molecule. C 24 , with D 6d symmetry, is the next smallest fullerene system 72,73 and has been characterized experimentally and detected in space; 74 its structure in other space groups (D 6 and O h ) is theoretically known. 75 It consists of 12 C 5 rings and two C 6 rings.…”

The signs of the extrema of the molecular electrostatic surface potential (MESP) are an effective means of probing the surface reactivity behavior of molecular entities. Electrophilicity and nucleophilicity collectively explain...

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
