Clemmensen Reduction

Abstract: The reduction of carbonyl groups (in aldehydes and ketones) to methylene groups with zinc amalgam and hydrochloric acid is generally known as the Clemmensen reduction. This reaction has also been reported to perform in acetic acid with zinc and HCl.
