Climate Change and Health Protection in European Union

Abstract: Climate change (CC) represents a real fact with consequences that start to be seen more and more often and that is why it cannot be ignored anymore. It affects many domains of the human activities and also the health of the people. Climate-specific actions are needed to be taken in order to protect the people and to save the environment. For each affected domain, new regulations and actions regarding climate change prevention must be designed, promoted and implemented. Besides phenomena like heat waves, storms… Show more

“…One of the main effects is the climate that is changing inducing not only a rise of the average temperatures (global warming) but also creating extreme weather events, rising seas, shifting wildlife habitats and populations, affecting forests and coastal areas, etc. (Mogos et al, 2021;Nunez, 2022). Countries from all over the world acknowledged these facts and tried to accomplish an agreement through the Paris Climate Agreement in 2015.…”

“…Formula (4) calculates the utilities cost "CU" across the entire supply chain. The overall product cost within the supply chain system is computed using formula (5). For comprehensive insights into the calculations, syntax, and meanings of the six primary cost categories contributing to the total production cost, El Dabee et al's [36] research offers in-depth details.…”

“…Carbon dioxide emissions are prevalent in both the transportation and manufacturing sectors. The implementation of a carbon tax policy has proven effective in reducing emissions [5]. This research considers the carbon tax as a representation of the environmental dimension of sustainability, while also incorporating its economic dimension by factoring it into the total cost of the product.…”

“…Reducing the volume of waste will bring benefits, such as reduced costs for waste management, a reduction in air pollution (with particles and nitrogen oxides) and a reduced noise pollution in connection with the collection and transport of waste (Fritsche, U., et al, 2020). Otherwise, the costs associated with waste management can increase significantly as their volume increases (Mogos et al, 2021;Popescu et al 2021). The costs associated with waste collection and treatment are particularly onerous, and waste production is, by definition, an unprofitable activity (Ladaru et al, 2022).…”
