Climate factors influencing effective use of geothermal resources in SE Poland: the Lublin trough

Abstract: Although geothermal resources are practically independent of climate factors, those factors significantly condition the potential use of the Earth’s natural heat resources. Unlike all the other factors limiting or facilitating the use of geothermal heat (like receivers’ temperature expectation, financial issues or local regulations), climate factors remain immovable. Thus, climate remains the main factor influencing the effective use of geothermal resources. Volumes of sold energy, typical capacity factors and… Show more

“…The students did not know much about geothermal as an energy source because the most significant drawback of geothermal energy is that it is site dependent. This is because geothermal facilities must be built where the energy is available, and some areas cannot benefit from this resource (Ciapała et al, 2021;Salazar et al, 2017;Uliasz-Misiak et al, 2021). This is not a challenge if the end-users reside in an area where the geothermal energy is widely accessible, such as Iceland.…”

“…The average climate model mainly represents the temperature and precipitation cycles within a year (month to season) and directly affects biological species' distribution, abundance, and interaction [6,8]. Furthermore, climatic change has damaged the ecological balance [9,10]. Climate change affects invasive plants' growth, development, physiological characteristics, and distribution pattern [1,5,6,11].…”

“…From the available literature review [15,[25][26][27], few authors study modeling from existing geothermal plants and simulating variables from ambient temperature with the resulting GPP performance. The lack of tools for quick, simple, and comprehensive analysis and simulation of a geothermal power generation system makes it difficult to carry out a basic analysis.…”
