Climbing walls to feel at home: Palestinian climbers re-appropriating space

Abstract: Rock climbing is an outdoor activity that has recently become popular in Palestine partly due to the development of the Wadi Climbing project. A climbing community of local climbers has therefore developed and this implies new relationships and belonging ties between space and Palestinians are appearing. This article explores the ability of climbers to re-appropriate a space such as the natural landscape of the West Bank that has been under Israeli occupation since 1967.
