Clinical and Esthetical Evaluation of 79 Lithium Disilicate Multilayered Anterior Veneers with a Medium Follow-Up of 3 Years

Abstract: Objectives Primary aim of this study was to evaluate survival rate of lithium disilicate veneers in upper and lower anterior teeth. Secondary aims were to evaluate changing in proportions of teeth before and after restorations and to assess mean thickness of the veneers. Materials and Methods Seventy-nine upper and lower lithium disilicate veneers were made in 13 patients with worn teeth. Mean follow-up was 3 years. To perform anterior definitive rehabilitations, malocclusions and loss of vertical dimension we… Show more

“…Photographs were taken with D700 (Nikon, Tokyo, Japan) with Nikon AF-D DC 105 mm f/2 lens (Nikon, Tokyo, Japan) and R1C1 dual flash (Nikon, Tokyo, Japan) positioned on a camera tripod at 30 cm from the patient’s teeth. Camera was perpendicularly stabilized to the vestibular surface of the upper central incisors and setting used were the same for the pre- and postoperative pictures (f29, 1/60) [ 22 ].…”

“…Effective measurement of main length of lesions was determined by a digital software elaboration (Rasband, W.S., ImageJ, U. S. National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland, USA) of photographs [ 22 ] by the same operator. Measurements were taken twice for each lesion with a ten min interval in between.…”

“…14 The performance of resin cement on the luting procedure and their mechanical properties are important factors to consider for the clinical success of indirect restorations. 6,15 Therefore, this study aimed to assess the surface hardness, sorption, solubility, and color stability of light-cured resin cement. The null hypotheses tested were: (1) no difference in microhardness between the evaluated resin cement, (2) no difference in the sorption and solubility between the resin cements tested, and (3) no difference in color stability would be observed between the tested materials.…”

“…Silica-based all-ceramics have been proven effective in numerous clinical studies as an appropriate material for esthetic single tooth restorations. 17,[23][24][25] Ceramic veneers are considered advantageous for maintaining tooth vitality and preserving hard tissues. 26 Full crown preparations require removal of 63 to 72% of tooth structure, while veneers require removal of only 3 to 30% of tooth structure.…”
