Background: Roughly 30% of individuals encounter post-operative sensitivity Subsequent to the placement of resin composite restorations in their posterior teeth, as indicated by various clinical research studies. To alleviate post-operative sensitivity, one approach involves the desensitization of teeth through the occlusion of dentinal tubules using dental desensitizers, aimed at reducing sensitivity following composite restorations. Methods: A total of 10 patients, all having Class I cavities, were prepared for this study. These patients had a vital pulp and fell within the age range of 18 to 45, maintaining good oral hygiene. Patients with abnormal habits, traumatic occlusion, and gingival disease were excluded from the study. One of three groups was randomly allocated to the participants: Group I received Hurriseal, Group II was treated with Gluma desensitizer, and Group III functioned as the control group. After the dental desensitizer surface treatment and the evaluation of post-operative sensitivity, the teeth were subsequently restored with composite material. Results: At 1 week, Significant statistical differences among the three groups were observed (p-value = 0.006), with Gluma demonstrating the lowest Visual Analog Scale (VAS) score in comparison to Hurriseal and the Control group. Nevertheless, no statistically significant differences were identified between the groups at all other timepoints (P value > 0.05). Post-hoc comparisons among the three study groups revealed significant differences between Hurriseal and Gluma, although there were no appreciable variations found between the Gluma and Control groups. Moreover, significant differences in VAS scores within each group over time were detected (p value= 0.03, 0.001, and 0.01, for Hurriseal, Gluma and control groups, respectively. Statistically significant differences were observed mainly during the comparisons involving the 1-month timepoint in all three groups, suggesting that the most notable changes in pain levels occurred around this period within each group. Conclusion: Gluma proved to be the most efficient in minimizing postoperative sensitivity after composite restoration, whereas Hurriseal exhibited the least effectiveness in this regard. One of the most commonly faced clinical problems is dentinal hypersensitivity (DH).It's a "enigma" that's "often met yet seldom comprehended." It is defined as a sensation of discomfort caused by exposed dentine in response to heat, chemical, tactile, or osmotic stimulation. It appears to be a common ailment, with estimates ranging from 4% to 74 percent of the population.The study aimed in evaluating the efficacy of sodium fluoride varnish, dentine bonding agent and diode laser in treating dentine hypersensitivity in vitro and in vivo.The research was split into two parts: in vitro and in vivo. In the in vitro study, 40 anterior teeth were extracted and separated into four groups: control, group A (fluoride varnish), group B (dentine bonding agent), and group C (laser), all of which were studied under a scanning electron microscope. For the in vivo part 30 patients aged 20-50 years with the chief complaint of sensitivity to hot and cold were selected from the outpatient department (OPD) of Seema Dental college and Hospital. The patients were divided into 3 groups, group A(fluoride varnish), group B (dentine bonding agent) group C (laser).At the end of 3 months, there was a statistically significant difference seen in mean VAS and VRS scores between Group A, Group B, and Group C; additionally, the mean of dentinal tubules in the SEM study (In vitro) was seen to be significantly higher in the Control group compared to Group A and Group B, and significantly higher than Group C.According to the findings of this study, all three treatment methods, sodium fluoride varnish, dentine bonding agent and laser are efficient in reducing dentine hypersensitivity in both in vivo and vitro studies, with laser showing better outcomes.

Background Regardless of attaining adequate knowledge regarding oral hygiene, physical activity, and healthy eating habits, dental students still face oral health problems. This study was aimed to assess the association of oral hygiene habits, physical activity, and eating habits with the BMI in the dental students. Method This multi centric cross-sectional study was conducted from January to May 2021 in Pakistan. Three hundred and eighty-six study participants enrolled as undergraduate dental students, both males and females, were included in the study. A questionnaire used to gather data, was modified from a study conducted by Jouhar et al. Chi-square testing was used in order to assess the relationship between two categorical variables. Linear regression was performed to assess the association with putative confounders. Statistical significance was considered for p value < 0.05. Results Regarding brushing teeth, 57% of the underweight individuals brushed once daily, 69.8% of the healthy, 79.2% of overweight, and 48% of obese participants brushed twice. Horizontal brushing technique was performed by 50% of the underweight participants, followed by scrub technique. A soft bristled brush was frequently used by underweight (42.9%) and healthy (66%) individuals, while a medium textured bristle brush was used by overweight (62.3%) and obese (54.2%) participants. Majority of the underweight (64.3%), overweight (48.1%), and 45.8% of obese individuals had meals thrice a day, while healthy (62.3%) individuals had meals twice a day. Conclusion This study further intensified the contributing role of having an excessive dietary intake and sugar consumption in causing obesity and dental caries. Findings from the current study, identify a statistically significant relationship that exists between BMI levels with oral hygiene, eating habits and the physical activity.
