Even before behavioral disturbances, neuroleptics, amphetamine, and domperidone application rapidly emerged severe occlusion/occlusion-like syndrome, shared innate vascular and multiorgan failure in rats, comparable to occlusion/occlusion-like syndrome described with vessel(s) occlusion or similar noxious procedures application. As therapy, i.e., activation of the collateral pathways, “bypassing key” (activated azygos vein pathway, direct blood flow delivery), the stable gastric pentadecapeptide BPC 157 is a novel solution. Recently, BPC 157 therapy particularly counteracted neuroleptic- or L-NAME-induced catalepsy, lithium intoxication, and schizophrenia positive and negative symptoms (amphetamine/methamphetamine/apomorphine/ketamine). In rats with complete calvariectomy, medication (BPC 157 10 µg/kg, 10 ng/kg ip or ig) was given 5 min after distinctive dopamine agents (mg/kg ip) (haloperidol (5), fluphenazine (5), clozapine (10), risperidone (5), olanzapine (10), quetiapine (10), or aripiprazole (10), domperidone (25), amphetamine (10), and combined amphetamine and haloperidol) and assessed at 15 min thereafter. All neuroleptic-, domperidone-, and amphetamine-induced comparable vascular and multiorgan failure severe syndrome was alleviated with BPC 157 therapy as before major vessel(s) occlusion or other similar noxious procedures. Specifically, all severe lesions in the brain (i.e., immediate swelling, hemorrhage), heart (i.e., congestion, arrhythmias), and lung (i.e., congestion, hemorrhage), as well as congestion in the liver, kidney, and gastrointestinal (stomach) tract, were resolved. Intracranial (superior sagittal sinus), portal, and caval hypertension and aortal hypotension were attenuated or eliminated. BPC 157 therapy almost annihilated arterial and venous thrombosis, peripherally and centrally. Thus, rapidly acting Virchow triad circumstances that occur as dopamine central/peripheral antagonists and agonist essential class-points, fully reversed by BPC 157 therapy, might be overwhelming for both neuroleptics and amphetamine.

Migraine triggers in Asian countries: a narrative review

BackgroundMigraine is one of the most common neurological disorders worldwide. Clinical characteristics of migraine may be somewhat different across ethnic groups. Although factors such as stress, lack of sleep, and fasting are known as migraine triggers, the discussion about geographical differences of migraine triggers in Asia is lacking.MethodsIn this study, we performed a narrative review on migraine triggers in Asia. We searched PubMed for relevant papers published between January 2000 and February 2022.ResultsForty-two papers from 13 Asian countries were included. Stress and sleep are the most frequently reported migraine triggers in Asia. There were some differences in migraine triggers in Asian countries: fatigue and weather common in Eastern Asia and fasting common in Western Asia.ConclusionMajority of the common triggers reported by patients with migraine in Asia were stress and sleep, similar to those reported globally, thus showing they are universally important. Some triggers linked to internal homeostasis are influenced by culture (e.g., alcohol, food/eating habit), and triggers related to environmental homeostasis, such as weather, are highly heterogenous between regions.

A migraine is not just a headache. It is an extremely prevalent neurological condition marked by periodic episodes of unilateral headache, with more than 10 million cases yearly. Migraine often begins at the age of puberty. It substantially impacts the brain and, consequently, psychiatric behavior linked with frequent migraine attacks that may be moderate to severe in intensity. A crucial aspect of migraine variability is comorbidity with other neurological diseases, vascular diseases, and mental illnesses. Psychiatric disorders related to migraine include anxiety disorders, panic disorder, bipolar disorder, depression, etc. It is also estimated that people suffering from migraine are about five times more likely to develop depression than others without migraine. The stimulus for migraine is stress, lack of sleep, skipped meal or fasting, visual stimulation due to high intensity of light, auditory stimulus due to noise, and olfactory stimulus due to a pungent smell. A majority of patients suffer from migraine attacks triggered by noise, some due to visual stimulation, and a few due to perfumes or other odors that trigger their migraine. Diagnosis of this is primarily dependent on history taking and clinical evaluation. Migraine can be classified depending on whether an aura is present or absent. It can further be divided based on the frequency of headaches into episodic migraine or chronic migraine, which may be determined by the duration of the headache. The development of migraine is influenced by both genetics and the environment. It has a detrimental effect on children's quality of life. A comprehensive analysis of psychiatric illnesses in migraine contributes to early diagnosis and proper treatment of the disease. Also, having a healthy lifestyle (including exercise, a balanced diet, and enough sleep) seems to prevent and improve the condition. Headache in migraine is resistant to medical treatment but responds well to botulinum toxin. This review primarily focuses on the psychiatric issues like depression and anxiety that often accompany migraine. The article also highlights the effects of botulinum toxin on migraine.
