“…It has anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties (Boisnic, Branchet-Gumila, & Segard, 2001;Castex-Rizzi, Charveron, & Merial-Kieny, 2011;Joly et al, 1998;Merial-Kieny, Castex-Rizzi, et al, 2011;Merial-Kieny, Mengual, et al, 2011), which are potentially responsible for its soothing, antipruritic and softening effects on the skin. The anti-inflammatory properties of Avène thermal spring water have been well documented in the treatment of severe skin disorders such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis or inherited ichthyosis (Bodemer et al, 2011;Merial-Kieny, Castex-Rizzi, et al, 2011;Merial-Kieny, Mengual, et al, 2011), as well as in the healing of facial skin after laser resurfacing (Sulimovic et al, 2002). In our study, the patients also benefited from the optimal use of emollients, which, combined with thermal spring water, resulted in the complete resolution of xerosis in all patients after the thermal treatment.…”
