“…This observation is in accordance with previous investigations that report that most GH release occurs usually in the first 90-120 min of physiological sleep [MacGillivray, 1986;Martin, 19861. No correlation was found between nocturnal GH concentration and age ( r = -.16; P > .50), height ( r = .27; .20 < P < .50), bone age ( r = -.18; P > .50), L-dopa peak ( r = .20; P > .50), Tanner staging ( r = -.lo; P > .50), or maximum nocturnal peak and L-dopa peak ( r = .27; .20 < P < 50). A similar observation had been reported in a previous study of children with delayed growth [Costin and Kaufmann, 19871.…”

“…According to Underwood and Van Wyk [1985] and MacGillivray [1986] -70-75% of normal children respond to Ldopa. The definition of "normal" is still arbitrary, since sorne authors consider a normal response to L-dopa a peak above 7 ng/ml, others a peak above 9 or 10 ng/ml [MacGillivray, 1986;Costin and Kaufman, 19871. In any case, the results from the present investigation suggest an apparently normal response of GH release after Ldopa in nonrnedicated DMD patients.…”
