Clinical significance of Candida isolation from dystrophic fingernails

Abstract: Summary Background Candida onychomycosis mostly involves fingernails. Yet, in contrast to dermatophytes, Candida isolation from dystrophic fingernails does not prove casualty, as sample contamination and non‐pathogenic Candida growth occur.
