“…erefore, we have conducted the present study in which we found that omentin-1 levels are increased in treatment-naïve breast cancer patients compared to healthy individuals in unadjusted comparisons. ese results are in accordance with a meta-analysis suggesting that malignancies are generally associated with increased omentin-1 levels [52]. However, in our study, the significance of this comparison did not persist after adjustments for covariates, indicating that anthropometric and metabolic parameters, rather omentin-1, are the main predictors of the presence of malignancy.…”

“…Pan et al also reported a negative correlation between omentin-1 and BMI and blood glucose levels in their study results [27]. However, Arjmand et al reported that omentin levels were higher in cancer patients with BMI≥25 and suggested that omentin may play a role in the development of obesity-related cancer in a systematic analysis evaluating omentin-1 levels, contrary to popular opinion [28]. A negative correlation was found between omentin-1 and BMI, but this was not significant in this study, contrary to expectation.…”

“…34 Levels of omentin-1, the major circulating form of omentin, are inversely correlated with the degree of insulin resistance, obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus, exactly as in the case of adiponectin. 34 Dysregulated circulating levels of omentin have been also reported in some tumours 35 and autoimmune diseases. 36 However, the specific receptor for omentin has not yet been found.…”
