Abstract:Background Diphtheria is an acute bacterial infectious disease characterized by serious morbidity and mortality. Outbreaks continue to occur in developing countries despite national vaccination programs. Vaccination, early recognition the disease, and adequate intervention are needed to avoid devastating outcomes.
