“…The findings of this study provided rich information on the importance of the supervisory relationship as well as the value placed on CS by occupational therapy supervisees. A further Australian study [20] of allied health professionals used focus groups and individual semi-structured interviews to explore participant experiences in their own words and descriptions. These studies called for further CS research with rural and remote allied health professionals to address existing knowledge gaps.…”

In addition, the research questions seek information about any factors either within the clinical supervision relationship, or within the broader organisation, that affect, either negatively or positively, the effectiveness of clinical supervision in delivering the identified outcomes of support, professional development and guidance for clinical practice.…”

In addition, as profession-specific differences are evident in clinical supervision practice (Dawson, Phillips, & Leggat, 2012), some have questioned whether a common supervision framework will be appropriate for a diverse range of allied health professionals (Kumar, Osborne, & Lehmann, 2015).…”

“…The challenges include an aging population that will require significant health care resources, the rise of chronic conditions that impact on the mortality and morbidity of the population, limited health care resources due to efficiency measures necessitated by budgetary constraints, chronic shortage of health care professionals, especially in rural and regional areas, and an increasing focus on consumer-centred care, where the consumer is an active participant in health care decision-making and not merely a passive recipient. 1 , 2 …”
