Abstract: The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) has been criticized through evidence suggesting it lacks appropriate validity, reliability, and clinical utility, and the Hierarchical Taxonomy of Psychopathology (HiTOP) has been offered as a solution to these criticisms.
