Background: The objective of this study was to determine if search request forms, which are used when a patron’s request for information cannot be fulfilled at the time of contact with the library team, can be used to identify gaps in consumer health library collections.Case Presentation: Search request forms were collected from 2013 to 2020 and analyzed independently by two reviewers. Search request forms were included if they were complete and contained a record of how the request was fulfilled. Descriptive statistics were used to summarize patron characteristics. Search request forms were iteratively coded to identify themes in the data and determine if resources provided to patrons could be found within the library collection. The study team subsequently reviewed search request forms to determine reasons for identified gaps. Two hundred and forty-nine search request forms were analyzed. Six main content themes were identified: 1) understanding the cancer diagnosis, 2) cancer treatments, 3) understanding disease prognosis, 4) support during and after treatment, 5) natural health products and therapeutic effects in oncology, and 6) research literature. The majority of patrons were patients (53%). Over half (60%) of the submitted search request forms reflected collection gaps, and many (16%) contained queries for information about rare cancer diagnoses. The main reason that queries could not be satisfied was that there was limited consumer health information on the requested topics (53%).Conclusions: Search request forms are a useful resource for assessing gaps in consumer health library collections.

The objective of this systematic review is to explore perceptions, experiences, and attitudes of health care professionals in teaching hospitals, academic health science centers, and health care professional colleges regarding the role of librarians in fostering the production of evidence-based research. Introduction:Evidence-based health practice entails the use of the best research evidence, combined with knowledge and information gained through professional expertise as a practicing clinician, and consideration of patients' concerns and preferences to make the best possible decision for the care provided to those patients. With their extensive skills in literature searching, librarians and other information professionals contribute to the process of evidence-based health practice by locating and retrieving the most relevant information for clinical practice. Despite the importance of librarians in evidence-based health practice, little attention has been paid to the perceptions and attitudes of health care professionals toward the involvement of librarians in fostering evidencebased research and their participation in other evidence-based health practice activities. Inclusion criteria:The population of interest is health care professionals working in teaching hospitals, academic health science centers, and health care professional colleges who make clinical decisions based on evidence, clinical judgments, and patient values. Methods:The following databases will be searched from database inception till June 2021 for published and unpublished studies: CINAHL, PsycINFO, AMED, Academic Search Premier, Scopus, LISTA, MEDLINE, POPLINE, and OpenGrey. Studies published in English will be considered for review. The selected studies will be critically assessed for methodological quality by two independent reviewers.

Discute-se a inserção e as práticas informacionais dos bibliotecários nas equipes multiprofissionais de saúde em hospitais. Tomando-se como referência o modelo bem-sucedido do sistema de saúde canadense, em que bibliotecários agem na equipe de forma rotineira: prática inexistente no Brasil. Busca conferir as atividades e competências, desenvolvidas por bibliotecários médicos, a fim de configurar uma nova proposta de trabalho. Constitui uma abordagem qualitativa pela amostragem por conveniência, selecionando especialistas como: profissionais da informação, médicos e profissionais de saúde convidados a discutir as perspectivas de agir e desafios. Conclui-se que as perspectivas de agir são promissoras e emergentes, mas que requerem uma reconfiguração na formação do bibliotecário e a aquisição de novas competências, assim como, a criação de eixos sobre informação em saúde e ciências da saúde em sua formação.
