The 21st century is witness to a rapidly changing workplace because of technological advancements, competition posed by competitors, globalization, and the expansion in the service sector. This necessitates employees to be much more involved in work not just physically but also emotionally and mentally as employees with emotional intelligence competencies have been found to give an outstanding performance at work and contribute more to an organization’s profits (1,2). Hence, after a careful examination of literature, the present study with a literature-based approach brings to the forefront the crucial role played by emotional intelligence in job performance leading to the success of an organization. This study will be valuable for researchers, academicians, industrialists, and other stakeholders in understanding how emotional intelligence has an impact on job performance, and how it could assist an organization in employing a workforce with the necessary emotional intelligence, thereby contributing to an organization’s long-term success.
