Closed‐loop control of turbulent boundary layers using spanwise traveling surface waves

Abstract: The drag reduction technique of spanwise traveling surface waves in turbulent boundary layers is investigated in a closed-loop control setup. The results show a dependence of the local skin friction on the spanwise coordinate and a successful application of the controller to determine the optimal amplitude.
