Cloud-Based Big Data Platform for Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G)

Abstract: Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) have increasingly become prevalent over the past years. BEVs can be regarded as a grid load and as a way to support the grid (energy buffering), provided this extensive battery usage does not affect the BEV’s performance. Data from both the vehicle and the grid are required for effective Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) implementation. As such, a cloud-based big data platform is proposed in this paper to exploit these data. Additionally, this study aims to develop smart algorithms, which … Show more

As such, solutions such as peak shaving, frequency regulation and net load shaving do have a practical feasibility [33].…”

“…This generated emerging needs and ideas from our participants in being able to use their EV as part of the home energy system to become more independent in balancing their energy usage to avoid peak costs, power outs or trading energy. These anticipations foresight EVs to become part of an increasing number of emerging digital energy platforms [31,32]. Subsequently, the automotive industry needs to take into account that EV's are more than a means for transportation, they are also part of emerging digital energy platforms.…”
