“…According to the literature, the successful adoption of ICT solutions in organizations depends on internal and external factor that includes: access to broadband internet technologies (Awa and Ojiabo, 2016; Dholakia and Kshetri, 2004; Fathian et al , 2008; Pokharel, 2005), firm size (Adane, 2018; Awa and Ojiabo, 2016; Bayo-Moriones and Lera-López, 2007; Čudanov et al , 2010; Giotopoulos et al , 2017; Kuan and Chau, 2001), ICT skills and decisions of the CEO for investment in digital technologies (Alam et al , 2011; Čudanov et al , 2012; Kannabiran and Dharmalingam, 2012), limited economic resources for investment in technology (Adane, 2018; Eze et al , 2013; Gallego et al , 2014; Hoque et al , 2016; Kannabiran and Dharmalingam, 2012), lack of security and privacy of information assets (Alam et al , 2011; Awa and Ojiabo, 2016; Fathian et al , 2008; Kannabiran and Dharmalingam, 2012; Kumar and Samalia, 2016; Tan et al , 2009; Tan and Eze, 2008) and political, legal and regulatory aspects (Eze et al , 2013; Fathian et al , 2008; Hoque et al , 2016; Tarutė and Gatautis, 2014). In this regard, some examples of digital technologies adopted by SMEs over the years include internet-based ICT adoption (Cant and Wiid, 2016; Dholakia and Kshetri, 2004; Tan et al , 2009), the transition from traditional commerce to e-commerce (Awa et al , 2015; Fathian et al , 2008; Ghobakhloo et al , 2011; Rahayu and Day, 2015) and cloud computing services (Alsafi and Fan, 2020; Alshamaila et al , 2013; Kumar et al , 2017; Tehrani and Shirazi, 2014).…”
