Cluster Analysis of the EU-27 Countries in Light of the Guiding Principles of the European Green Deal, with Particular Emphasis on Poland

Abstract: The article presents a cluster analysis of the EU-27 countries. The clusters were built to identify groups of countries similar to each other in relation to the set of Eurostat indicators from the Climate Change Drivers and Environment and Energy sections. During the research, tools of spatial information systems were used, such as cluster analysis, diagram maps, rasterization and the TSA method. ARIMA prediction models were also used. The research aims to verify our hypotheses. Particular attention was paid t… Show more

“…Basic criteria were (I) advances in energy transition; (II) naturally occurring resource uniqueness; (III) diversity of primary energy sources; (IV) nature of the primary energy mix; and (V) development status. The goal of this purposive sampling is to reflect the diversity of primary energy supply globally, considering the different primary energy sources and mixes, the natural energy resources, and the income levels of each country [54]. A cluster analysis was then performed using SPSS to automatically aggregate and allocate the 18 countries into different clusters based on similarity in the dominant primary energy sources that serve some of the most important energy sectors in each country.…”

“…In July 2021, Turkey's EGDAP was unveiled as a result of consultations with many stakeholders, including the business sector [26,27]. The present ties between the EU and Turkey are not encouraging, even though EGDAP handles the majority of the problematic areas and anticipates strong collaboration with the EU [28,29]. The EU and Turkey have been in admission talks since 2005 [30,31].…”
