This study examined the issue of professional training of future journalists in terms of promoting the formation of their professional identity. The relevance of the research topic is due to trends in the profession represented in the content of professional training. The purpose of the study is to present a draft concept for the professional training of future journalists in terms of the formation of their professional identity. The research findings are presented by the Federal State Educational Standard, professional standards in «Journalism» major at Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after M.V. Lomonosov. The research methodology employed a systematic and constructivist approach, which makes it possible to analyze the system of professional training of future journalists from professional identity aspect. The concept of professional training of future journalists includes: goals (strategic and tactical); conceptual apparatus (professional identity, image of I-professional, image of the profession); characterization of objective factors of the macrosocial context and subjective factors of personality development that influence the formation of the professional identity of future journalists; the content of professional training (courses aimed at mastering the competencies of analytical and narrative journalism); organizational and pedagogical conditions for the formation of the professional identity of future journalists; stages of formation of professional identity of future journalists. As part of the study, we developed a learning methodology in a production studio based on a project-based, reflective and task-based approach and CDIO engineering education technology. The presented concept reflects the formation of a person as a professional, his professional identification through the stages of self-determination (understanding of his place and role in the profession), immersion in professional activities and self-actualization. The results of the study may be useful and interesting for the developers of educational programs in “Journalism” major.
