“…They observed a negative correlation between overall health quality and the symptom cluster composed of cancer pain, fatigue, dyspnea, and gastrointestinal symptoms. 23 Mikan et al evaluated 404 patients in different healthcare settings, including outpatient clinics, hospitals, and palliative care units. They used the same instruments (BPI and EORTC QLQ-C15-PAL) and conducted Spearman correlation analysis to investigate the correlation between cancer pain and functional and emotional status items of EORTC QLQ-C15-PAL.…”

“…24 The cancer pain experienced by patients had an average duration of 52.3 days (SD ± 6.2), a variable that was not investigated in the other aforementioned studies. [19][20][21][22][23][24] This data is very relevant, as most of the evaluated patients were already receiving palliative care before being admitted to the hospital's palliative care unit. In addition, the prolonged duration of the symptom may have contributed to its stronger correlation with all items of the EORTC QLQ-C15-PAL, particularly with fatigue and nausea.…”

“…Given this, when comparing the clinical condition of patients using cushions and oncological patients in middle or advanced treatment stages, coupled with hospitalization, one can find some signs and symptoms consistent with those documented in other studies. These include swelling, pain complaints, pressure ulcers, incontinence, prolonged bed rest, difficulty sitting up, and reduced joint flexibility (Brasil, 2020;Lima et al, 2013;Mello et al, 2021).…”
