“…The reason for the creation of this journal was related to two factors: on the one hand, the increase in rejections of high quality submissions to CMI raised the question of a loss of ability to publish high-quality papers; on the other hand, work by Evelina Tacconelli on mismatches for acceptance rates for papers from emerging countries led to editorial reflection with a themed section (Infection problems in South-East Europe and neighbours.
