Transition metal-mediated dehydrocoupling is a developing synthetic tool for the preparation of an extensive range of main group element-element bonded species, with broad applications to molecular and polymeric materials. Dehydrosilylation reactions between tBu2AlH and E(SiMe3)3 yielded the four‐membered heterocycles [tBu2AlE(SiMe3)2]2 (E = Sb, 1; Bi, 2), whereas no reaction was observed with P(SiMe3)3. In contrast, the reaction of tBu2AlH with HP(SiMe3)2 also proceeds with elimination of Me3SiH and subsequent formation of [tBu2AlP(H)SiMe3]2 (3). Complexes 1–3 were characterized by multinuclear NMR (1H, 13C{1H}, 31P{1H}) and mass spectroscopy, elemental analysis, andsingle‐crystal X‐ray diffraction.(© Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
