“…Low expansion GCs reinforced with SiC, 16 B 4 C, 17 alumina, 18 carbon fiber, 19 and combination of systems 20 are being investigated for structural applications. Recently, there is research inclination toward processing the glass-alumina composites for structural and functional applications.…”

“…The multivariate curve resolution (MCR) method 19,[26][27][28] decomposes the set of experimental Raman spectra in the spectra of pseudo pure components (called loadings) and relative abundances of these components (called scores). It is essential to emphasize that MCR does not use any data of the system composition.…”

“…García-Moreno introduced a hybrid process for making desired LAS precursor wherein TEOS, alumina, kaolinite and Li 2 CO 3 in appropriate ratios were mixed in ethanol medium [195]. Sol-gel route is really advantageous while processing LAS matrix fibre reinforced composites [196][197][198], and it enables easy impregnation of prepreg or fibre tows. This route ensures high purity and homogeneity of the material produced.…”

“…The composite was found to exhibit increased fracture strength and toughness than the C f /LAS composites [238]. Wu et al hot pressed (with 10 MPa at 1350°C for 0.5 h) unidirectional continuous T300 carbon fibre (32–35%) reinforced LAS (1:1:4) ceramic matrix composite with 2 wt-% h-BN addition which was found to exhibit higher mechanical strength ( 910 MPa and K IC 21 MPa m 1/2 ) and enhanced oxidation resistance in 60% porous form [197]. After 1 h oxidation exposure at 600°C, 800°C and 1000°C the 2 wt-% h-BN doped C f /LAS composite demonstrated higher residual strength 47%, 35% and 32%, respectively [197].…”
