Coastal land loss and hypoxia: the ‘outwelling’ hypothesis revisited

Abstract: It is generally believed that interannual variability in the areal extent of the Gulf of Mexico hypoxia is driven primarily by the magnitude of the Mississippi River freshwater and nutrient fluxes.
