Coating of jute with natural rubber

Abstract: Jute fabric was coated with natural rubber to develop double-texture rubberized waterproof fabric and fabric-reinforced rubber sheeting for hospitals. The vulcanization of such natural-rubber-coated flexible composites at 120°C for 3 h produced optimum effects. The jute/naturalrubber composite was much superior to a conventional polyester/natural-rubber composite for producing such double-texture rubberized fabric with respect to the fabricto-natural-rubber adhesion, breaking strength, tear strength, abrasion … Show more

“…This deficiency is a consequence of the inherent tradeoff between the hardness and extensibility of most engineering materials. That is, an increase in hardness is offset by a reduction in the tensile breaking strain 6,7. We previously reported on a natural organic coating material-the protective cuticle of mussel holdfast threads-that evidently remains intact even when the threads are subjected to tensile strains up to 70% 8,9.…”

“…Short fiber reinforcement of rubber is a subject of interest to a large number of researchers because of the importance both of end-use applications and research and development areas (Das et al, 2005;Geethamma et al, 2005;Goettler and Shen, 1983;Ismail et al, 1997Ismail et al, , 2002Jacob et al, 2008;Murty and De, 1982;Nassar et al, 1996;Nunes and Visconte, 2000;Varghese et al, 1994). These composites exhibit the combined behavior of the soft, elastic rubber matrix and the stiff, strong fibrous reinforcement.…”

“…The drug release kinetics of GNP, GPVA and GPVAInc for zero order, first order, Higuchi and Korsmeyer-Peppas models [39][40] at different pH is shown in Figure S5, S6, S7 and S8 respectively. The linear regression coefficient and kinetic parameter for drug release from GNP, GPVA and GPVAInc obtained from four different mathematical equations depicting the drug transport mechanism at different pH are summarized in Table 3.…”
