Professional Approaches After Becoming Parents of Pediatric Nurses: Qualitative Study Aim: This research is a qualitative study to determine the professional approaches after becoming parents of pediatric nurses. Methods: When we started to work in the pediatric service we included 25 nurses who did not have children and had children when they were working. The semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher was used as data collection tool in the research. Interview form is comprise of questions on section 6 consisted of personal information, clinical environment, attitudes towards parents after parenting, attitudes towards children after parenting, nursing interventions and practices after parenting, and nursing roles after parenting. Descriptive analysis technique was used in analysing the data. Results: It was determined that 92% of the nurses participating in the study were female and undergraduate degree, mean age was 33.00±4.89, the average of the working years in the pediatrics clinic was 8.88±4.25, and the average number of children they had was 1.60±.50. The analysis of the data revealed themes of empathy, change in nursing roles, emotionality and sharing with parents. Conclusion: It can be said that nurses are more empathic in their nursing initiatives and practices after being a parent, and they take on educative and advocacy roles in their roles.
