Abstract

One of the basic needs people want to have to live healthy and orderly in society is security and protection. In every society, a main mechanism is required where children who are dependent on others and inadequate to meet their own needs feel safe. When these mechanisms do not develop, and there is an authority gap, criminal environments and individuals' tendency to commit crimes pose a threat. The group at the highest risk is children, who are still at the stage of identity and personality formation, and more easily inclined to different factions and more suitable to be directed. Pushing children into crime causes them to experience many victimizations. These children, who are somehow pushed to crime and suffer from victimization, need protection. The healthiest structure and authority in the protection of children is the state. The Republic of Turkey has developed a system of juvenile justice to protect children and prevent their victimization. This system enables children's improvement and social integration by carrying out studies for children. The main purpose of the juvenile justice system is not to punish the child but to ensure their reintegration into society. In this context, the juvenile justice system offers preventive-preventive and rehabilitative practices for children who are driven to crime and victims Protective-preventive practices include measures taken in advance to prevent victimization; rehabilitative practices include practices to be performed after victimization. It is very important to take measures before the problem occurs, as it is very difficult to solve the problems of children after they experience victimization. Social work is an important professional discipline in the execution of work and practices in this field. This study aims to evaluate the sufficiency of preventive-preventive and rehabilitative practices carried out by the juvenile justice system for children who are dragged into crime or victims of crime in Turkey from the social work perspective.
