ABSTRACTSeveral remote sensing techniques have been used in studies about the effects of changes in cover and land use in the radiation at the surface. Thus, this paper aims to quantify the Net Radiation (Rn) in a corn field in a Cerrado region using Landsat-5 TM images. The study area is located in Campo Verde -MT. Two images were selected, one in April and another one in August 2011. Maps of the instantaneous and daily Rn by the SEBAL (Surface Energy Balance Algorithms for Land) were generated. The instantaneous Rn values over the study area were 418 W.m -2 and 328 W.m -2 , respectively for the two maps, while for the daily Rn were 104 W.m -2 and 98 W.m -2, respectively. The difference of the instantaneous and daily Rn between the two dates was due to the different stage of the culture, the first date is the development phase and the second the post-harvest maize. The values of albedo and NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) were consistent with the values found in maize cultivation in other works, so it was possible to affirm that the value obtained for the day 22/04/2011 is the value of Rn during the development phase of the cultivation of corn on Cerrado conditions.
