To the Editor:Collaborative research is essential to advance scientific knowledge and navigate global health challenges. 1 In recent years, accelerated globalization has aimed to improve patient health through significant economic development and technological advancements, particularly benefiting health care delivery in developing countries. 2 However, despite these changes, efforts to collaborate among high-income countries (HICs), low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs), and low-income countries (LICs) have shown limited progress and inadequate representation. We read with great interest the article published in Neurosurgery by Jelmoni et al, 3 in which the authors conducted a bibliometric analysis to determine the collaboration trends, country roles, and article types in neurosurgical research among HICs, LMICs, and LICs. This study is invaluable and provides a clear path forward in this area. The authors 3 convey that although there is significant interest and effort in training and collaboration initiatives between HICs and LICs/LMICs, there are critical gaps that need to be addressed.
