Collagen Plug Occlusion of Molteno Tube Shunts

Abstract: We report five patients in whom collagen lacrimal plugs were used to temporarily occlude the lumen of Molteno shunts to prevent early postoperative hypotony. Only one eye, with a double plate, developed hypotony and a flat anterior chamber that required reformation. However, in three patients, the collagen plugs did not dissolve and had to be removed surgically to lower the intraocular pressure.
