Abstract:One of the most important functions of the skin, mechanical, is provided by collagen fibers and their interaction with other elements of the extracellular matrix. Synthesis of collagen fibers is a complex multistep process. At each stage, disturbances may occur, leading, as a result, to a decrease in the mechanical properties of the connective tissue.
